The Secret Is Out
The Historic North Theatre to Reopen
August 15, 2012-Danville, VA-Celebrity magician and World Champion Illusionist Wayne Alan, the new owner of The Historic North Theatre, announced that the Gala Grand Reopening will take place on August 25th. That is the 65th Anniversary, to the day, of the opening of the North in 1947.
The grand reopening will feature Mr. Alan’s own show-Magic of the Masters-the World’s Most Famous Illusions-a modern look at Magic’s Golden Oldies. It is a family friendly show with a touch of Broadway, Las Vegas and Branson combined. This big stage magic show will be the theaters’ resident show (Like Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center which has been there for over 20 years.) and will be presented on the second Saturday of each month.
In addition to the public being invited to the gala reopening, invitations are being sent to city, county and state dignitaries and officials. In addition, Mr. Alan, who has performed thirteen times at the White House, will be sending a personal invitation to President Obama. Prior to the gala on August 25th the theatre will have a soft opening, beginning on August 23rd, featuring Mr. Alan’s Close-Up Magic Show in the Balcony Mini Theatre.
Tickets can be purchased on the theatre’s new website:
www.TheNorthTheatre.com or by calling the box office at 434-793-SHOW (7469).
The theatre will be booking top celebrity touring concerts and shows to perform in this beautiful 500-seat venue. They will also host a number of other productions, festivals and special events. The goal is to provide top quality, wholesome and family friendly entertainment. The new owner said, “We will strive to live up to the North’s first advertisement in the 1947
newspaper: “Visit Danville’s new and finest theatre for the best in entertainment.”
Since owning this performing arts center in January (Friday the 13th was his first full day of ownership), Mr. Alan has overseen much restoration and renovation to the theatre in preparation of the reopening. He said, “Ronnie Dillon of the local firm Dillon Construction has done a beautiful job of replacing the façade of the middle building that fell last fall. I think he especially did a great job by matching the historic look of the theatre.”
